14:1514088Within 100m14070Sunny14076Rough114101Not recorded14098Adult14094DivingI was in a kayak, it would have his head above water then go under for a while then popped up closer to me. It wasnt scared, looked at me then carried on doing its own thing. About 20ft away from me. Based on the forehead shape (looked a bit like a dog) id say it was a common, not grey seal. Though its colour did seem grey. It was a beautiful surprise encounter.

It seemed curious about us. We stood still for about 10 minutes watching while he swam back and forth. We left when he came ashore about 100 m down the beach. He? was quite dark but not as big as an adult. We think he was about 1.2-1.5m long

17:5014088Within 100m14071Cloudy14075Choppy114101Not recorded14098Adult14091Hauled out - resting on land/out of waterThe seal rested on the beach, I think for a few hours. It became more alert after a while. He / she (I cannot tell) occasionally stretched it's neck round or twisted into different resting positions. I stayed there for about half an hour (at a safe distance). It seemed like it would return to the water because it was becoming more active. I have heard that it was no longer there early this morning.
